In my mind, the carrot is complex and confusing. It may be that I am not used to looking at sugary roots, much more familiar with leaves and stems. The carrot is a complex of cell types which tangle together. Parts of it look like bubbles (maybe they are bubbles). In spots the cell membranes are so thin to be essentally invisible. Whatever the carrot is, microscopically, it's a unique vegetable.
