Today is a special story. I set out in my usual way to take pictures of the biofilm in my mudpuddle sample. But I ran into software problems with my imaging program. The software kept taking away the contrast so the images were completely washed out. I would close the diaphragm as much as I could. After doing so the images looked right for an instant and then washed out completely. Not one to give up easily, I experimented with filtration to try to darken the images. I did get some reasonable images of the mudpuddle by using make-shift darkening filters. This was an interesting phase in the development of the biofilm. I didn't want to waste it.
